June was another very active month for ADB Creative Consulting. My play by play assignment last month took me out to Pickering for a League1 Ontario Championship division contest between Durham Region rivals Pickering FC and Whitby FC. The highly entertaining 2-2 draw demonstrated just how competitive that division, in particular, is this season with just 10 points separating the top 10 teams, as of this writing.

June 12 was a day of significance because it observed one year before the city of Toronto is to host its first ever FIFA World Cup match and the occasion was marked by a special celebration held at Nathan Philips Square and City Hall. A number of local pro soccer clubs, including AFC Toronto and York United, and local soccer celebrities, such as Dwayne De Rosario, were on hand to participate in a festival of soccer that brought thousands of people downtown to experience the vibe and witness the unveiling of the official countdown clock.

Back to League1 and the end of the month brought about a top-of-the-table clash between Championship division contenders Sudbury Cyclones and The Borough FC from iconic Birchmount Stadium in Scarborough. Working on behalf of The Borough FC founder Andrew Ornoch, ADB Creative Consulting distributed a media release inviting media outlets to profile the emerging community force that The Borough FC is becoming. Having established collaborations with the Scarborough Health Network, Feed Scarborough, the Toronto Zoo and many other community organizations, The Borough FC is hoping to forge a powerful alliance between Scarborough’s vibrant business community and its pro-am representative in League1, which has a broad and stable grassroots component.
Building on the club’s appearance on Rogers TV Durham in May, ADB Creative Consulting has been coordinating interview opportunities for the club with community-based media outlets like The Bluffs Monitor as well as more prominent services like 680 News Radio Toronto.

And, as we enter July, I’m thrilled to be working alongside International FC Academy once again as we promote a very special event next week – the appearance of a former Italian international soccer star, FIFA World Cup champion Gianluca Zambrotta, who will be guest coach for one day only, July 9th, at IFC’s annual Summer Open Camp. We hope to generate a lot of media attention for this ex-player as he makes a rare appearance in Canada.
